‘Walking to Wapping/Walking with Angels’, is a site-specific walk to Wapping, London in 2001, that offered a guided tour of the ‘passing places of angels’. The essay consists of photographic documentation of this walk accompanied by a written script. ‘Walking with Angels’ is a piece of performed writing that moved through London towards Wapping in three acts. The script is composed of specific three kinds of voice. First are the voices of critics and philosophers whose writing is angelic. Second are the descriptions of angelic works by artists. And third is the voice of the stage director, whose directions are placed strategically throughout the text to situate the reader in specific places. Fourth are the voices of the texts encountered in the city itself.
The walk took place on 21 April 2001.
